How Does It Work?

Discs are the fluid-filled cushions between your spinal vertebrae. When the discs become damaged, such as bulging or herniated discs or disc degeneration, they can become compressed, causing the fluid to bulge—much like if you squeeze a water balloon.

When the discs protrude this way, they can pressure nearby nerves, causing pain and other dysfunction.

Non-surgical spinal decompression therapy has a success rate of 82-92%. It works by gently stretching the spine to relieve pressure on the discs and allowing nutrients and fluids to flow into the disc to promote healing and repair.

Our Approach

We’ll begin with a thorough examination, including X-rays and motion X-rays, which can show us exactly which segment of the spine isn’t moving correctly. We may also refer you out for MRI or CT scans to ensure that you don’t have any contraindications to this type of therapy. If we believe this therapy can help you and you are a good candidate for it, we will let you know and explain how it works and its benefits.

Our team is certified to use the state-of-the-art Accu-SPINA IDD Therapy® decompression table. This table allows us to target the affected joints while not influencing other nearby spinal joints.

What to Expect

We will assist you with getting harnessed to the computerized table, then we’ll input the specific angles and degrees of stretch for your specific situation.

The computerized table will then stretch and release your spine alternately, reducing pressure on the discs and “pumping” hydrating and healing nutrients into the area. Most patients find the therapy painless—you will have a switch to stop the session if you feel uncomfortable for any reason.
